Cadillac has received a lot of praise for their ATS sports sedan, and they are about to receive even more with the arrival of the ATS-V. The ATS-V is expected to have over 450 horsepower from a 3.6 twin-turbo v6, rear wheel drive, and feature a manual 6-speed transmission. A proper ultra high sports sedan formula that should work exceptionally well.
Cadillac wants to the ATS-V to compete directly with the European competition, and therefore has brought a very thoughtful approach towards creating a high performance ATS. Cadillac did extensive research and listened to potential customers to figure out what the optimum sedan would be. That translated into Cadillac offering a real 6-speed manual transmission, rear wheel drive, and a potent twin-turbo V6 engine producing well over 400 horsepower. This same setup is found on few ultra high European sport sedans including the BMW M3. It will also be offered as both a 2-door or 4-door.
The exterior receives the same changes as previous Cadillac V models. The front bumper and hood get much wider openings with a black mesh grilles. The hood gets a highly stylized functional air scoop. Continuing the theme are wider side sills, black satin wheels, and black window trim. Quad exhaust pipes with large rear diffusor and trunk lid spoiler round out the look. The overall look is aggressive, purposeful, and attention grabbing.
Like the exterior, the interior receives the same sporty treatment. The first thing you notice is the ultra thick rimmed sport steering wheel. Then the carbon fiber interior trim with stitched dash. Finally, the interior gets bolstered leather sport seats with colored inserts.
