The 2018 Porsche Cayenne is an obvious evolution of one of Porsche’s best selling models. While the new Cayenne doesn’t have a revolutionary make-over, all of the aspects that made it a great performance SUV remain.
The newest Cayenne is built off of VW Groups MLB platform that underpins a number of brands/models which include the Lamborginihi Urus, Bently Botegya, Audi Q7, and Volkswagen Touareg. Porsche uses a slightly shortened version of the MLB platform for the Cayenne which Porsche says makes the Cayenne agiler, sporting, and lighter.
When looking at the new Cayenne, the model resemblance from the previous generation is immediately recognizable and the new model maintains roughly the same dimensions as its predecessor. The most immediate change would probably be the flatter, wide front headlight assemblies, and rear tail lights that are larger and wrap around the rear fender. Otherwise, the body looks slightly more sculpted and refined.
The interior hasn’t officially been unveiled yet, but if you have seen the interior of the 2018 Panamera, it should look very similar. The main feature of the interior will be a large infotainment system that is center-high-mounted in the dash featuring and will feature a high definition screen. Otherwise, the interior will continue to be very high quality and ergonomically correct. Even with a sloping roof line, interior space remains the same while the trunk space has improved.
Powertrains options will match what is available today and buyers will be able to opt for a V6, V8, twin-turbo V8, and even a hybrid model. S versions and GTS versions will also be available.
The newest Cayenne is expected to be released late this year with pricing tbd.
