Audi is finally doing it. They are bringing the RS3 stateside. The RS3 is Audi’s most performance-oriented model in the A3 lineup and features a spectacular inline five-cylinder turbocharged engine and Quattro all-wheel-drive.
The RS3 gets the same 2.5 inline five-cylinder turbocharged engine found in the Audi TT RS. This engine not only produces 400 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque, but one of the most intoxicating engines note as well.
A seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission puts the power to the ground through Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system. The all-wheel-drive system uses hydraulic clutch packs to control the torque split, but in normal driving conditions, up to 80% goes to the rear wheels.
The RS3 gets some unique styling details that separate it from other A3 and S3 models. The front bumper is special to the RS3 and features deep air inlets and has Quattro etched into the front lip. The model also gets 19-inch wheels that are only found on the RS3. The rear trunk lid gets a lip spoiler, and the rear bumper diffuser houses a dual oval-tipped exhaust system.
The interior will be equipped with a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel, deeply bolstered sport seats, and tons of RS3 logos. The red deviating stitching and other minor details do make a big difference to the interior.
The Audi RS3 is due to hit showrooms in the summer of 2017. Make sure you have a big wallet though, as prices are expected to be north of $50,000.
