Dodge Gives the Durango An SRT Treatment and 475 Horsepower

You’ll finally be able to get a Dodge Durango fitted with 6.4-liter HEMI eight-cylinder engine that pumps out 475 horsepower in the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT.  The SRT treatment also gives the Durango a slew of other performance add-ons that Dodge claims make it the quickest in the 3-row SUV class.

2018 will be a good model year for the Durango.  For 2018, the full-size SUV is getting the SRT treatment with a 6.4L HEMI V8, unique wheels, bigger Brembo brakes, body styling, and the claim of being the fastest 3-row SUV in production.

The 6.4L HEMI V8 puts out 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque allowing it to propel the Durango SRT from 0-60 MPH in just 4.4 seconds and to hit the quarter-mile in just 12.3 seconds.  It is, indeed, fast.  That engine also gives it an 8600-pound towing capacity, which is another best in its class.  The only transmission choice is an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic with rev-matching.

The most notable changes for the exterior are the “black noise” finish 20″ wheels and the SRT hood with three air inlets.  The front fascia is also new and houses larger air inlets (one for the cold air intake), and LED fog lights.

The interior gets SRT sports seats, a T-handle shifter, and an SRT flat bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters.  Otherwise, the interior remains untouched for the exception of SRT badging.

The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT will officially go on sale at the end of summer in 2017.  The base price will start at $63,000 plus destination with additional options increasing the price the even further.
