Dodge heard the call and they are listening. The wide-body of the Challenger SRT Demon will now be an option for the Hellcat. Dodge will start taking orders for the wide-body optioned Hellcats next month.
A wide-body Hellcat will retail at $72,590 which represents a $9,000 premium over a standard Challenger Hellcat. Although that is a steep premium, The wide-body option improves aesthetics as well as the performance figures of the Hellcat.
The wide-body option increases the front and rear width by 3.5 inches at the fender flares. This allows Dodge to fit 20×11-inch “Devil’s Rim” shod in 305/35 Pirelli P Zero tires. In addition to some other minor tweaks, performance has gone up. The wide-bodied Hellcat accelerates from 0-60 in just 3.4 seconds and hits the quarter mile in 10.9 seconds which represents increases of .1 and .3 seconds, respectively. Grip is also up by .04 gs laterally.
The Hellcat is still powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter eight-cylinder engine that produces 707 horsepower and can be equipped with either an 8-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission.
Dodge will start deliveries of the wide-bodied Hellcat during the third quarter of this year.
